Fabulous on a Budget:

Fabulous on a Budget is the lifestyle manifesto for living la dolce vita on a dime. Leah and Mary initiated this concept back in 2004 while lounging poolside at The Ritz. As the girls survived on student salaries, they still managed to indulge in weekly manicures, a healthy dose of heels, and beach side residence. As everyone wanted to learn how, the duo set up shop to do just that, proclaiming to the world, “Everyone can be Fabulous!”

As students at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute, Leah and Mary met as they navigated their first city bus ride in the pouring rain. The girls instantly bonded over B rated Mexican food, devoting all future lunch hours to bean burritos, The $4.99 Store and $5 sunglasses. Within months, Fabulous on a Budget was born.

Fabulous On A Budget provides trend forecasting for many Fortune 500 and Entertainment conglomerates.  Their on-air Fashion & Interior expertise has been featured on The Style Channel, HGTV, Discovery Networks, FIDM productions, LACMA Home & Garden Tour, KTLA, Glamour.com and various print & online publications.  Fabulous also offers consultations in both Fashion & Interiors, and lead Public Speaking Engagements nationally.

The Wizard of Oz plays like a super 8 movie in my mind: red lips, sparkly shoes, and Technicolor. From birth, my loving parents, Ken and Marlene, nurtured me in all things cool. Mom taught me devotion to vintage, spirituality, and Earth. Dad educated me on punk rock, John Waters, and the difference between campy and camping. I ate garlic bread for lunch, ice cream for dinner, skipped school to paint landscapes, and dyed my pony’s mane for holidays.

From birth, I was carted to every antique mall and flea market in all of California. We even had a convertible bug that “automatically stopped at all yard sales.” By ten, I had a savvy eye. By thirteen, I was reselling vintage and designer duds.

Upon high school graduation, I understood the impact of Tom Ford for Gucci, felt moved by the architecture of a stiletto, and vowed to devote my life to fashion, art, and
self-expression. I enrolled at FIDM, met Leah, and the rest is history. I currently reside in Venice, CA and give a whole lotta money to donation yoga.

My dream dinner party guests include: Auntie Mame, Ferris Bueller, Coco Chanel, Russell Simmons, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the 922 Crew.

My obsession with all things fabulous began with my beautiful mother, the model. She taught me everything she knows about the good life and spending money, including the way it cheered her up on bad days!

Growing up in Fabulous locales like Los Cabos and Martha’s Vineyard only fueled the flames of my penchant for lavish living. Obsessed with a good tan, year round bikini weather and of course the beach, I knew Los Angeles was for me.

Originally, in Los Angeles to follow in my mother’s footsteps, I enrolled at FIDM, met Mary and quickly realized that my passion lay in good knock offs, scouring flea markets and half priced wine nights. And of course, educating anyone who will listen about how they too can live a Fabulous existence on any budget.

I also currently reside in Venice, CA and will probably never leave. My personal heroes include Martha Stewart, Brigitte Bardot, anyone who can make a mean margarita and of course my mother!
